Cal High Softball Coach Jason Ramirez_FINAL Show Transcript newest 50 High School softball team in Whittier heading to the state playoffs since there is more at stake than just winning their head coach is battling ALS Community journalist Ashley Mackie shows how his perseverance is inspiring the team Jason Ramirez in his softball team at California high school have accomplished so much this season but it's been a tough road in March Jason was diagnosed with ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's disease it's an illness that attacks the nervous system weakens the muscles and Impact Physical functions Caribbean are you feeling at night it's just going to get worse and worse bad anymore keep fighting do it alone Bingham Lake Road from the new year and then to see new year was pretty crazy cuz he got so like good at the game and quit so that's why I was kind of like a big like impact on when he told us that he had it has been coaching at Cal high school for five years the last two years open their season with a regional semifinals games Thursday Jason's players attribute a lot of their success to him wasn't I wouldn't have been here if it wasn't for him uniforms that we have when they've been here for wasn't for him or this team together wouldn't be where we are if it wasn't for him everything he has done has definitely build this program go today says his community support has made all the difference 50 even had these bracelets made to sell with all the proceeds going back to him Jason says he hopes his story brings awareness to this rare disease people to be sadder bring me at all cuz I don't like girls like this for the word because I think the more people that I can get involved how about be there before me will that give me that have yellow eyes
