Dear Whittier Union High School District,

The Whittier Union High School District will conduct an oath of office ceremony for Josefina E. Canchola, representing Trustee Area 3, during an upcoming Board meeting on Tuesday, July 18. The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the District Board Room, located at 9401 S. Painter Ave., Whittier.

Whittier Union would also like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to retiring Board Trustee Dr. Ralph Pacheco, whose retirement became effective on July 8. Dr. Pacheco has dedicated an incredible 32 years of service to the District as a trustee, and his contributions have positively impacted the lives of countless students and staff members. We extend our sincerest thanks and best wishes to Dr. Pacheco as he embarks on this new chapter of his life.

In celebration of Josefina E. Canchola's appointment, we invite the community to join us in honoring her commitment to educational excellence. Ms. Canchola brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our Board, having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of California, Riverside, and a master's degree in management from the University of Phoenix.

Currently, she serves as the director of secondary programs for the Puente Project, a statewide non-profit academic preparation program that focuses on empowering first-generation college students in underrepresented communities. Additionally, Ms. Canchola is an esteemed senior advisor, staff developer, and trainer for the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project, and she has been elected as the president-elect for the UCR Alumni Association Board of Directors.

We are confident that Ms. Canchola will serve the District with dedication and passion. She will fulfill the remainder of Dr. Pacheco's term from July 2023 through the first Friday of December 2024.

We look forward to a bright future with Ms. Canchola and express our utmost gratitude to the community for their continued support.

Thank you.
