Superintendent's Message

October was a fun-filled month with so much to celebrate across Whittier Union! From bringing our community together to showcasing student talent and expanding opportunities for learning, our students, teachers, and staff continue to live up to our mission, “To Achieve and Maintain Excellence.” 

 

We kicked off the month with the success of our second annual State of the District, welcoming more than 200 community members from Whittier, Santa Fe Springs, Norwalk, La Mirada, and Downey. The event featured beautiful performances by Santa Fe High School’s Mariachi Los Dorados and Pioneer High School’s choir. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a memorable celebration of our schools and community.

 

Fall Preview Nights are also underway across the District, with our high schools hosting engaging events that showcase their campus cultures, programs, pathways, and opportunities. I encourage families and community members to attend and discover all that a Whittier Union education has to offer.

 

As Board meetings continue this school year, I am encouraged by the number of field trips approved for our students. Visits to college campuses and other interactive learning experiences help students explore their interests, discover new passions, and consider the many options available after graduation. Thank you to our educators, staff, families, and community partners who help make these valuable experiences possible. 

 

As we look toward the final months of the year, I am inspired by the many successes happening across Whittier Union and the enthusiasm our students bring to their classrooms, activities, and school communities. Let’s keep building on this momentum and finish 2026 strong by embracing our shared commitment to doing Whatever It Takes to help every student succeed.
