Superintendent's Message

August has arrived, bringing with it the excitement of a new school year and all its possibilities. The energy from the first day of school as our students returned to campus has set the stage for an amazing year of learning and growth.
 
At Whittier Union, the new school year begins with several days of celebration. Staff gather at our annual Day One event to reflect and reconnect, incoming freshmen dive into high school life on Freshmen First Day, and excitement builds to the moment when more than 9,500 of our scholars return to campus to continue their academic journeys.
 
As always, our main goal is to ensure the safety, success, and well-being of our students. The Whittier Union Board of Trustees wholeheartedly welcomes all students and families – regardless of citizenship or immigration status – to the District. We pledge to do Whatever It Takes to ensure every family feels safe and supported in our schools.
 
The District has also updated its Core Values to reaffirm our commitment to belonging and opportunity for all; celebrate the strength of our community’s cultural richness; and recognize the essential role of parents as partners in their child’s education. Whittier Union is excited to host our inaugural State of the District in October. This event will bring our community together in a new way as we celebrate the achievements of our students, staff, and schools, while sharing our District’s mission, vision, and progress.
